The future of timber garage doors is in good hands – Woodrite Doors! John Brooks formed Woodrite Doors in early 2010. With over thirty years experience in all things garage doors and having run his own independent timber shop, the motto of “Good with Wood” was an obvious choice. John’s renowned “can-do attitude” is in full flow, ensuring that every aspect of what makes a quality garage door is continually monitored. We like our little mottos and “we cut wood, not corners” is another favourite! The recently opened premises in Brackley, Northamptonshire have purpose built dipping tanks, state-of-the-art staining and finishing booths, machine routers and tenoning machines and a skilled team of timber craftsmen. A good timber shop requires care – wood is a remarkably versatile material and with the right approach is unequalled. It is attention to detail that really makes the difference and with many years spent working with timber the team know just what it takes to get things right first time. At Woodrite we care about quality and take pride in a job well done - Woodrite - good with wood!

With a little care timber lasts well and is forgiving of minor knocks and bumps. Our fully finished doors are protected by a special base-treatment and UV resistant finishing coats for lasting good looks.Select with confidence knowing you are in good hands - craftsman’s hands.
the thing about timber...
Today’s approach seems to be all about uniformity, however those of us who know true beauty understand the value of wood. Every door is unique with it’s own character. We select the timbers for each door to work sympathetically together not to hide the natural variations. If you are fitting doors side by side let us know and we’ll make your doors from similar tones and grains to create complementary pairing.
Something unique?
If you don’t see the style you seek over the coming pages and have something special in mind, let us know - we have made hundreds of bespoke doors over the years and will help bring your ideas to life.
How is my door made?
All doors are built to order from grade one selected cedar tongue and groove boards and mouldings. All boards are individually dipped in base coat to ensure penetration into the end grain and grooves. A wide range of standard sizes is available, however special sizes can be made to measure in mm increments. Boarded designs such as theTingewick and the Uxbridge have an anodised steel subframe that protects the end grain of the boards. Panel styles such as the Radnage and Taplow are built using a cedar moulding framework with chamfer detailing and cedar tongue and groove boarded infill panels. A polymer sealant bead is applied to prevent rain seepage into the horizontal timber rails. All doors have a strong galvanized and powder coated steel chassis in dark brown and zinc that gives the door increased strength, rigidity and provides solid fixing points for the doors lifting gear. Anodised steel edging Chamfer detailing and sealant beading to horizontal rails Strong steel chassis.

Side hinged - traditional style
Our York range of side hinged doors is a traditional classic. The ironmongery we fit to our doors is of a high quality and selected to ensure years of trouble free service. All packs share the same components and differ only in terms of the type of hinges used, giving a choice of three styles - Contemporary, Classic and Traditional. Contemporary is fitted as standard and includes three pairs of brass effect butt hinges, a brass effect night latch lock and finger pull (also available in silver effect), a black monkey tail shoot bolt (top) and black foot operated shoot bolt (bottom) to the inactive leaf. A pair of stays is also supplied to hold the door open at 90º and prevent accidental slamming on windy days. The Classic pack offers two pairs of black or silver effect steel strap hinges and the traditional pack includes hand forged black wrought iron strap hinges. All doors open right hand leaf first when viewed from outside the garage with the option of left hand opening available on request.
